The XION BPM-DYNEON(725 EW/Dappion Series) composite bipolar membrane consists of Dappion Gen1 based anion exchange layer (AEL) and Dyneon 725 based cation exchange layer (CEL). Xergy provides composite bipolar membranes with thicknesses of 30 or 75 µm. Dappion Gen1 anion exchange resin is based on 3-D polyphenylene backbone with a benzyl trimethyl ammonium side chain which functions as the functional groups for anion transfer within the AEL. Dyneon 725 resin is based on the perfluorosulfonic acid composition with a short side chain, and it has sulfonic acid as its functional group for cation transfer within the CEL.
Xion BPM-Dyneon(725 EW/Dappion Series) composite bipolar membrane is easy to use and expected to deliver the following specs:
- High water splitting efficiency (> 98% at 100 mA cm-2 in 0.5 M NaCl at 25°C)
- Low water-splitting voltage (< 1.2 V at 100 mA cm-2 in 0.5 M NaCl at 25°C)
- Excellent mechanical properties at a low thickness (30 or 75 μm)
